You can't change a standard Brompton into an Electric Brompton

You can't change a standard Brompton into an Electric Brompton

No, our electric system requires changes to several frame components to meet stringent mechanical and electrical safety requirements for electric bicycles, this follows the latest European EN15194 standard law.

Brompton electric bikes are EN15194 compliant. EN15194 specifies safety and safety related performance requirements for the design, assembly, and testing of Electrically Power Assisted Cycles (EPAC) sold in Europe. If anyone or a third-party company offers a service whereby, they convert a ‘manual’ Brompton bike into an electric bike that does not mean it is EN15194 compliant, unless that person or company can provide a compliance certificate to state as such.

Note: There are key differences between a ‘manual’ Brompton bike and a Brompton electric bike. Key differences (and not excluded to) are the fork, handlebar stem and main frame.

Please note that retrofitted bicycles will not be covered under warranty. Full warranty terms and conditions here
